Driftin

Great ride on the Green Circle this a.m. We've been getting adequate rain the last week or two, yet it's still cool. No more constant firecracker pop of rotten granite pebbles on hardpan. Back to forgiving track and thigh-burning wood chips. High-speed corners are no longer dominated with concerns for the snap-crap-lowside scenario. In it's place a sweet linear loss of traction, begging for a little more two wheel drift through the next curve.

Early morning rides with Dan are doing the trick. Took 10 minutes off my lap time. Roughly 26 miles in 1:35.

Thresheree

Never been to a tractor pull, much less an antique tractor pull. Nor a thresheree. Time to head to Symco and check it out. More places to lose a hand than I have fingers and toes. You could sacrifice your body parts to Hart-Parr, Case, Minneapolis-Moline, CockShutt and Oliver as well as the still contemporary International Harvestor and John Deere.

Generally fine country folk in attendance. One's to whom these old machines represent memories, heritage or just a fine display of homespun maintenance.

Went to the old car show a few weeks ago. Overdue for some new posts. Even brief ones.

24 cents

We have the all the history on our 1994 Toyota in Quicken, so this is easy. We did sell it a few weeks ago for $1,550, with 224,000 miles on it! Cost for the 15 years is over $50 k, but not bad at 24.04 cents a mile. Beat that.
