Democracy ain't pretty

I don’t like to get politically divisive, but US Rep. Michelle Bachman is a Right-Wingnut. While she is decidedly anti-choice on the “big issue”, she is solidly pro-choice on the controversy regarding a phase-out of incandescent bulbs. She’s introduced a bill to prevent the 2012 phase-out of incandescent bulbs.

The human race’s connection to global warming is, to her, “voodoo, nonsense, hokum, a hoax.” She probably feels the same about any published, peer-reviewed scientific research.

How can Minnesota elect Al Franken AND Michelle Bachman, Paul Wellstone AND Norm Coleman? Well, democracy ain’t pretty. That’s for sure.

Battle Abbey

Best things about a week at the Abbey.

Great to get away for a week. To have nothing to do before breakfast but stretch. Nothing to hurry back for but afternoon tea. And now that they have a new two-holer outhouse, the biggest worry is how much new snow we’ll have in the morning. Well, and Timmy got caught up in a small (1.5) avalanche on one uptrack. Swim, Timmy-Three-Tubes, swim!

Note fracture line above and Tim’s little noggin’ sticking out of snow on left.

I could ski. Due to good conditions, patient partners and my unexplained ability to “point ‘em down”, I skied a number of lines I hadn’t before. Gmoser Pitch, Never Never Basin, Kitchen Envy and a few others were nice highlights.

The butt-clenching entry to Kitchen Envy.

Kitchen Envy, the aftermath.

The ice cave. 1,000-year-old ice for 10-year-old whiskey.

Me buds. Great to spend some quality time with the homies. Rip it up!

Um, let me think…

No Legbags

Best Saint Patty's promotion. Free beer until somebody pees. "No wagering. No legbags. One loser ruins it for everyone." See you there?
